Altum Technologies has been chosen among the top 3 finalists for Finland, and among the 12 finalists for the Nordics in the Capgemini Nordic Sustainability Tech Award 2024.

This award celebrates organizations across the Nordic region that are creating innovative technology solutions for a sustainable future. Given the urgency of the global climate crisis, there is a critical need for groundbreaking technology and innovations across industries. At Altum, we are passionate about innovating for a more sustainable future. That’s why being a finalist for this award is such an honor for us.

Altum Technologies: Improving Sustainability in Industrial Processes

Improving sustainability in industrial processes is one crucial aspect of fighting the climate crisis. For example, fouling in industrial processes is a significant contributor to greenhouse gas emissions, with fouling in heat exchangers alone accounting for 1-2.5% of global CO2 emissions. By keeping equipment clean, CO2 emissions could be significantly reduced: clean and blockage-free equipment minimizes energy consumption of the process.

Altum Technologies is a climatetech company, offering a patented, high-power ultrasound solution that prevents and removes fouling in industrial processes and enhances separation. By effectively preventing fouling with ultrasound, there is no need for fouling removal or prevention chemicals or high water consumption typically required for methods such as pressure washing. As equipment stays clean, the process can run at optimal efficiency. In addition to this, improving separation processes lowers the need for separation inducing chemicals.

This software-guided technology works without stopping production or using chemicals. Unlike traditional methods, it uses externally applied ultrasonic transducers, which keep processes running and minimize downtime. This approach improves energy efficiency, conserves water, and reduces CO2 emissions. For example, in one of our black liquor evaporation cases, CO2 emissions were reduced by 7 000+ tons per year.

Our vision is to lead the way in helping companies lower their environmental impact while enhancing production and profitability, contributing to global efforts against climate change. Read more about our innovation here.

We are truly honored to be a part of the finalists for the The Capgemini Nordic Sustainability Tech Award 2024, and believe that improving sustainability through new innovations is key in providing a future for our planet.

The winners will be announced on Monday 25th November. Read more about the award here.
